Night Shunter/cleaner
£10.41 per hour

We are looking for people to join our team preparing our vehicles for service every evening – fuelling, parking and cleaning the buses.

This role will be:
  • Part of the team fuelling, sweeping, mopping, washing and parking vehicles at our Great Knollys site in Reading
  • Focused on giving the very best vehicles for service each day in our award-winning bus operation
  • 38 hours per week working shifts, 5 days over 7, from 17:45 to 01:21

In addition to the competitive rate of pay we have a state of the art facility, a young bus fleet, an open management style, excellent terms and conditions and a friendly team.

  • Have an eye for detail
  • Enjoy working outdoors in all weathers

Vehicle Technical (Monday to Friday days)
£17.00/hr* or £15.62/hour

Reading Buses were 2016 Shire Bus Operator of the Year, and we are looking to grow our engineering team to as our business expands. You’ll improve diagnosis of issues, build the reliability of our fleet and help us to continue to lead the industry. 

This post is Monday to Friday 06.00 or 09.00 on a shift basis with optional weekend working as overtime.  We have a state of the art facility, a young bus fleet, an open management style, excellent terms and conditions and a friendly team.

We are looking for someone to:

  • Make repairs across all technical disciplines
  • Focus on mechanical, electrical and body repairs
  • Identify and diagnose issues

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have technical competence and substantial technical experience in a bus or commercial vehicle environment
  • Hold a qualification for vehicle inspections, obtained within the last 5 years
  • Demonstrate problem solving in a structured and clear manner
  • Demonstrate a contribution to vehicle maintenance processes by identifying issues and proposing solutions
  • Have evidence of managing their own workload and reporting performance. 
  • Demonstrate communication skills, written and verbal
  • Hold an IRTEC licence as Inspection Technician or above

PCV driver vacancies - Slough

From Saturday 20th January 2018, Reading Buses will commence some local bus operations in Slough under the ‘Thames Valley’ brand name operating daily on route 5 to Cippenham all day, evening journeys on route 4 to Maidenhead and Sunday journeys on route 6 to Wexham Park.

To operate these services we will be opening a small outstation in a central Slough location. We are therefore we are seeking to establish a small (8 driver) friendly team of customer focussed existing PCV (bus) licence holders to operate on a dedicated rota (early and late shifts) from Slough. The hourly rates of pay are £12.00 rising to £12.50 for late shifts and £12.50 and £12.75 respectively at weekends. Shifts are paid all the way through, including paid meal breaks, and include the usual Reading Buses annual leave and sick pay entitlements.

As this will be an outstation from our main Reading depot, drivers will need to be ultra-reliable and flexible in their duties which may additionally include re-fuelling the vehicle at the end of their shift and a light litter pick, both during paid time. Initial training (from Monday 15th January) will be undertaken from our Reading depot.
