New routes for 19b and scarlet 9

We are changing the route of scarlet 9 in Whitley Wood and supplementing this with the extension of the 19b into the area from Monday 24 July. All the change are below.

Route change for scarlet 9 and extension of 19b

We are extending the 19b from Lower Earley Asda into Whitley to supplement the scarlet 9 which will now become an hourly service and no longer run on Sundays. There will be changes to the route of scarlet 9 between Reading and Shinfield Road as well as minor changes within Whitley Wood itself. Buses on scarlet 9 will now combine with all 'the nineteens' along Whiteknights Road rather than run along Shinfield Road. The route in Whitley Wood will run along Cressingham Road, Basingstoke Road and Whitley Wood Road as normal, but will then turn right to use a small section of Shinfield Road to get back to Elm Road and Whiteknights Road.
The 19b will be used to cover the section along Northumberland Avenue and Hartland Road to ensure that there are still direct buses to the hospital for all of Whitley Wood.
The other slight change to the nineteens is the removal of the 919 service due to low usage.

Shinfield Road will still have the frequent leopard 3 and 10 route which are unchanged and Whitley Wood itself still has the very frequent emerald routes into Reading town centre.
