Last week, we unveiled a gold bus in celebration of the achievement of local gold medal winner Chris Mears.
Together with Jack Laugher, they won Great Britain’s first ever Olympic diving gold medal with victory in the men’s synchronised 3m springboard at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
The unveiling took place at the Pride of Reading awards and not only was he impressed, he’s also hoping that the younger generation in the town will be inspired by his achievements in Rio and the sport of diving.
The single deck gas ‘gold bus’ will primarily run along the lime 2 route which serves Chris’s home of Burghfield Common, near Reading, but there’s a chance you might get on the shiny bus as it will also be available for use on other routes in the town.
Make sure you tweet us a pic @reading_buses if you see it around town!
This is the first time we dedicated a bus in this way to someone but we thought we could give Chris something to demonstrate that we are proud of his achievements.
Well done Chris!
